baba news is an independent award-winning online magazine reporting from the inside of a multi-ethnic community in Switzerland.
Our goal is to shift the narrative and make unheard voices heard. We are addressing inequalities, showing new perspectives and are contributing to a more just and democratic society.
In addition to our work in journalism, we also run the baba academy and the baba bistro, with the aim to make an impact both online and in person, promoting diversity and cultural understanding within society.

Controversy about the war on Gaza
Because of our criticism of Israeli policies, we have come under attack, with a coordinated campaign accusing us of anti-Semitism and hatred towards Israel.
Private individuals as well as (right-wing) politicians have written to media, foundations and institutions with the aim of defaming us and preventing financial support for baba news.
Despite facing attacks, we are standing our point and are seeking strong partners who value our work — and are willing to support it financially.
Our goal is to expand our editorial work, grow our community, and make an even greater impact on the media discourse in Switzerland.

Since its founding, baba news has been committed to anti-racist discourse, which naturally includes the condemnation and examination of anti-Semitism.
At the same time, baba news has also dedicated itself to criticizing racially motivated mass violence by establishing an editorially driven culture of remembrance related to various historical massacres and genocides. We have regularly shared content on baba news to mark commemorative days for the victims of the Holocaust, the Srebrenica genocide, and the Black July pogroms against the Tamil population in Sri Lanka.
Through journalistic contributions on these and similar topics, we have succeeded in raising awareness, particularly among young people, about the harsh reality that millions of people can be brutally exterminated due to hate speech and racism.
For example, the video interview with Holocaust survivor Fishel Rabinowicz, published on January 29, 2023, in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day, went viral. The video was viewed 1.4 million times on TikTok alone, liked over 170,000 times, and received nearly 2,000 comments.
It was published not only on baba news channels but is also part of our Stop-Hate-Speech workshops in schools, specifically used in cases where anti-Semitism is an issue.
Addressing various forms of racially motivated mass violence but remaining silent on Gaza, especially when the International Criminal Court has deemed the genocide case against Israel plausible, would fundamentally contradict the principles of baba news.
In this context, we have published various podcasts and videos criticizing Israel’s settlement policy, the one-sided media coverage favoring Israel, and the ongoing genocide against Palestinians.
It is important for us to emphasize that the criticism expressed on baba news is always directed at Israel’s illegal occupation under international law and never at the actions of Jewish people based on their religious affiliation.
Through our coverage of the escalating violence in the Middle East, we have engaged in a public and media discourse that we perceive as highly one-sided and biased in favor of the far-right Israeli government. Our aim is to give a voice to those who are often left out of this discourse, as baba news has always strived to do.
Within this framework, baba news will continue to voice criticism and stand against all forms of discrimination.
